The Massachusetts Indigenous Peoples Day Bill has been extended in committee until April 14th.
That means the bill is still alive and there is hope for it this legislative session. We need everyone’s help!
Please contact the State Administration and Regulatory Oversight Committee and tell them you want the Indigenous Peoples Day bill voted out favorably.

Chief Henry Red Cloud Coming to Barre, MA on Wednesday, April 6th
On Wednesday, April 6th, Chief Henry Red Cloud of the Oglala Lakota Nation will travel to Barre, MA to view the collection of sacred objects taken from the bodies of Miniconjou and Hunkpapa Lakota killed in the massacre of Wounded Knee on December 29th, 1890, and kept for more than a century in a locked collection at the Woods Memorial Library in Barre.
Chief Henry Red Cloud is a direct descendant of the Chief Red Cloud who, in 1890, invited Chief Spotted Elk’s band of Miniconjou to leave their winter camp on the south fork of the Cheyenne River, after the assassination of Tatanka Iyotake (Sitting Bull) at Grand River on December 15th, to take refuge with him on Pine Ridge.
The Lakota have been demanding the return of these sacred objects from the Wounded Knee massacre for many years, and Chief Red Cloud will reinforce those claims.
All supporters of Indigenous people are urged to share the news of this significant event, and come to Barre on April 6th to support Chief Red Cloud’s the call for the repatriation of the Wounded Knee artifacts. The gathering will take place in front of the Barre town offices at 2:30 p.m. this coming Wednesday. For more information: 978-724-0412.
