Friends:
Can you take five minutes today to send the following automated letter to key state legislators who hold the fate of five bills sponsored by the Mass Indigenous Agenda in their hands?
These bills must move forward favorably in the next two weeks in order to pass this session.
Banning the use of Native mascots in public schools, honoring Indigenous People on the second Monday in October, rather than Columbus, the father of slave trading in the Americas – these are among the priorities addressed in these crucial racial justice bills.
Honor the legacy of Martin Luther King. Hear the call of Indigenous leaders in Massachusetts. Help pass these bills today.

(The link below, provided by the Mass Indigenous Agenda, makes that so easy to do!)
We still need your support to move the bills forward.
Our five bills are critical steps for Massachusetts – from banning racist mascots, celebrating Indigenous People’s Day instead of Columbus Day, protecting sacred objects, to improving our public schools by including Native-focused and improving Native educational outcomes.
Now comes the next phase. As you may know, each of our bills must be reported out favorably from committee by February 7 in order to stay viable. Can you write the committees and your legislators asking them to move the bills out of committee before the deadline?
Thank you for taking action and for sharing with your friends and community. We appreciate your support of the MA Indigenous Legislative Agenda bills and can’t do this without you!
Sincerely,
Mahtowin Munro (United American Indians of New England and IndigenousPeoplesDayMA.org)
